Building upon the awareness work of many national multiple-birth organizations in their own countries,

ICOMBO recognized that the journey toward creating awareness of multiple-birth issues and challenges,

needs and rights, is to collectively educate the public.

At the 2010 ICOMBO meeting in Seoul, South Korea – it was agreed that ICOMBO would be the lead

organizer of International Multiple Births Awareness Week.  Further, this event will be held on the

1st week of November, bi-annually, starting in 2010.  Themes will be chosen at the ICOMBO meeting

held during the International Congress on Twin Studies, held every other year, in locations around the

world.

For International Multiple Births Awareness Week 2010 the theme is to promote the newly updated

Declaration of Rights and Statement of Needs of Twins and Higher Order Multiples

Communication materials were distributed to members of ICOMBO and the International Society on Twin

Studies (ISTS), along with other national organizations with the intent of reaching a wide range of publics

with these important educational pieces.  If your group was missed, ICOMBO encourages you to download

the following materials:

·         Media release

·         Pledge form

·         Backgrounder

·         Declaration of Rights and Statement of Needs of Twins and Higher Order Multiples
