Building upon the awareness work of many national multiple-birth organizations in their own countries,
ICOMBO recognized that the journey toward creating awareness of multiple-birth issues and challenges,
needs and rights, is to collectively educate the public.
At the 2010 ICOMBO meeting in Seoul, South Korea – it was agreed that ICOMBO would be the lead
organizer of International Multiple Births Awareness Week. Further, this event will be held on the
1st week of November, bi-annually, starting in 2010. Themes will be chosen at the ICOMBO meeting
held during the International Congress on Twin Studies, held every other year, in locations around the
world.
For International Multiple Births Awareness Week 2010 the theme is to promote the newly updated
Declaration of Rights and Statement of Needs of Twins and Higher Order Multiples.
Communication materials were distributed to members of ICOMBO and the International Society on Twin
Studies (ISTS), along with other national organizations with the intent of reaching a wide range of publics
with these important educational pieces. If your group was missed, ICOMBO encourages you to download
